Today NHS England launched a national review of the standard to assess the impact it has had on people’s access to NHS and adult social care services, and to ensure that it is ‘fit for purpose’.

The review is looking at:

  • how organisations have implemented the standard
  • the impact of the standard, including organisations’ and service users’ experiences
  • any aspects of the standard which need updating or clarifying

In order to gather people’s feedback and experiences NHS England has put together three surveys aimed at different groups:

  1. survey for health and care professionals and organisations
  2. survey for patients, service users, carers and parents (also available as a Word document, and in audio, braille, British Sign Language video, and easy read (and associated diversity monitoring questions, also available in easy read
  3. survey for support, supplier and representative organisations

Please take the time to have your say and share the surveys with your colleagues, clients and their relatives. The deadline for feedback is Friday 10 March 2017.

If you have any queries E: england.nhs.participation@nhs.net or patients/ members of the public can T: 0300 311 22 33.

Following the review, all of the feedback will be analysed and a report will be produced. Depending on the findings, revised versions of the specification and/or implementation guidance for the standard might be issued. However, there will be no substantive changes to the overall scope of the legislation.
