About this event

This event is being held by the LSAB to explore the complex issue of self-neglect, with the aim of ensuring people who self-neglect are effectively supported to enable beneficial outcomes to be achieved.

Professor Michael Preston-Shoot, Professor Emeritus (Social Work), will be the keynote speaker. A social work academic since 1989, he has undertaken extensive research in the area of self-neglect, and also in the governance of adult safeguarding.  His work has been widely published and was influential in shaping the adult safeguarding provision in the Care Act 2014.

In addition the revised Self-Neglect Policy and Best Practice Guidance will be launched, the topic of mental capacity will be considered in relation to self-neglect and there will be opportunities to share information and practice with colleagues across the workforce.

Target audience: clinical leads, team managers, senior leaders and safeguarding leads.
